Case Study – Glen Insurance

As a self confessed technophobe I was concerned that the image of our company wouldn’t be accurately portrayed via our website – Our existing site looked staid and dated despite my best attempts to communicate our needs to our previous designers. Glen Insurance are a highly successful insurance brokers that offer expert insurance advice across a broad range of areas. The priorities for this website were:

Brand Image

The brand image for Glen Insurance was very important. The company wanted to appear as slick and modern as possible and we used a range of methods to help them achieve this:

  • premium quality conceptual images within a wide banner to differentiate between pages
  • a homepage banner that fades slowly between images and corresponding slogans
  • an improvement of the logo through the addition of a curved rim and 'GI' abbreviation within the homepage strap-lines.
  • the proliferation of this 'GI' abbreviation across the website to isolate key slogans that sum up the company's ideology
  • simple use of contrasting colours to lift this logo forward

Conceptual Images

Sourcing exactly the right conceptual images for the key pages on the website was really important- they needed to depict what featured on a specific page without being too literal. Once chosen, this image had to be cropped into the banner dimensions without obscuring the actual subject matter. The opposite corners were then curved and a high sheen affect was applied.

Our graphic designer ensured that each selection was backed up with both extensive research and a range of alternative choices should the client not be entirely happy with our choice.

Ease of Navigation

Four infographics sit alongside the photographic imagery on the homepage. These are in the Glen Insurance colours and clearly visually distinguish between the main categories of insurance.

The rest of the website is designed in a minimalist style to allow space for clear explanations about the different types of insurance.

The drop down menus further improve the navigation on the website; quick access to all the main pages on the site is hassle free.

Call To Actions

A call to action 'call back' button is highlighted in the top right hand corner of every page on the Glen Insurance website. This links to a simple form where visitors to the site can fill in their details. Once the submit button is pressed the information is automatically sent in an email to Glen Insurance ready for a response.
